Somatic Attunement

With Dr. Guillaume Vincent

Somatic Attunement offers a guided path toward nervous system regulation, embodiment, and integration.

Somatic Attunement is a guided, one on one practice for working with sensations, emotions, and recurring patterns as they are experienced in the body. Through breath, inquiry, movement, dialogue, and the body’s subtle responses, the work supports greater presence and a more grounded relationship with your experience.

As regulation deepens, many people notice greater calm, better sleep, and less pain and anxiety over time.

Sessions are private, fully clothed, and needle free.

50 minute sessions, online or in person at our Austin clinic.

An Embodied Path

When Life Is Felt in the Body

Somatic Attunement can be especially helpful when stress, pain, emotion, or recurring patterns seem to live as much in the body and nervous system as they do in thought.

Stress & Dysregulation

Chronic activation, anxiety, overwhelm, difficulty settling, disrupted sleep, poor focus, fatigue, or feeling as though your nervous system is always “on.”

Pain & Mind-Body Patterns

Somatic Attunement is supportive for people experiencing Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS), mind-body pain, persistent muscle tension, and pain patterns influenced by stress, fear, emotion, or nervous system activation.

Presence & Embodiment

Feeling disconnected from the body, difficulty recognizing emotions or internal signals, difficulty resting, or wanting a deeper sense of groundedness and presence.

Emotional Patterns

Recurring fear, anger, grief, shame, reactivity, or relationship triggers that you may understand intellectually but continue to experience in your body. The work makes space for these patterns to be met and expressed, without a fixed outcome in mind.

The Experience

What Happens During a Session?

The process is the same online and in person. We begin with the breath, a guided body scan, and what is present now. We identify the sensation, emotion, or pattern asking for attention, inquire into it, and connect with how it is being experienced in the body.

From there, facilitation techniques help you engage the experience through awareness, expression, movement, and dialogue. We follow what unfolds toward greater peace, presence, and a place of increased choice.

The intention is not to make an emotion disappear. It is to increase your capacity to feel what is present, remain connected with yourself, and respond with greater freedom.

Online Sessions

You join from a private space where you can sit or lie down comfortably. Dr. Vincent guides the same process through breath, body awareness, inquiry, movement, imagery, reflection, and dialogue. Touch is not required for somatic work.

In Person Sessions

You remain fully clothed and lie comfortably on a treatment table in a quiet room. The guided process is the same, with the additional possibility of gentle, consent based touch when it supports the work. No acupuncture needles are used.

Listening From Within

From Somatic Attunement Toward Integration

The body is constantly receiving, organizing, and responding to experience. Stress, emotion, relationships, illness, trauma, pain, and the demands of daily life can shape the nervous system in ways that influence how we feel, move, rest, focus, connect, and respond.

Somatic Attunement creates space to notice what is happening within you and to work directly with the body’s lived experience. Sensation, breath, tension, movement, emotion, impulses, and shifts in regulation become information that can be met with greater presence and awareness.

As Bessel van der Kolk reminds us in The Body Keeps the Score, the body carries the imprint of what we have lived through. Somatic work gives us another way to meet those experiences, not only through thought and language, but through the body itself.

Attunement is the practice. Integration is the direction. As recurring patterns are met and understood more fully, a deeper sense of coherence and possibility can emerge.

The Nervous System

Regulation Supports the Whole Person

The nervous system participates in far more than how stressed or relaxed we feel. Through the autonomic nervous system, it helps regulate heart rate, circulation, breathing, digestion, sleep, immune activity, energy, and the function of internal organs.

When we remain in prolonged states of stress, vigilance, fear, or chronic activation, those regulatory systems can become strained. Somatic Attunement supports the body’s capacity to settle, recover, and move more flexibly between activation and rest.

Somatic Attunement works with these same regulatory systems directly, supporting the body’s natural capacity to settle and heal.

Another Form of Accompaniment

Looking for Conversation and Relational Support?

Life Accompaniment is centered on thoughtful conversation, reflection, discernment, relationships, life transitions, and whole-person formation. It may be a better fit when what is asking for attention is less centered in the body and more connected with the life you are living.

Important Information

Common Questions

Is Somatic Attunement psychotherapy?

No. Somatic Attunement is not psychotherapy, counseling, diagnosis, or mental health treatment and does not replace appropriate medical or mental health care. It can complement other forms of care through embodied awareness, nervous system regulation, and somatic integration.

Is Somatic Attunement acupuncture?

No. Somatic Attunement is a distinct offering. No acupuncture needles are used. The work takes place through facilitated somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, embodied experience, reflection, and relationship.

What is the difference between Somatic Attunement and Somatic Integration?

Somatic Attunement is the practice we engage in together. Somatic integration describes the greater connection that can develop between body, emotion, thought, nervous system, and lived experience. Attunement is the practice. Integration is the direction.

Does emotional work happen in these sessions?

Often, yes. Recurring emotional patterns are frequently felt in the body, and this work makes space to meet them there, through breath, awareness, and dialogue, rather than only through talking about them. No particular or permanent outcome can be guaranteed.

Can the full process take place online?

Yes. Online and in person sessions follow the same process of breath, body awareness, inquiry, movement, expression, and dialogue. In person sessions take place while you lie fully clothed on a treatment table and may include gentle, consent based touch. Touch is not required for the work.

Can Somatic Attunement help with TMS or mind-body pain?

Somatic Attunement is supportive for people experiencing Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS), persistent pain, and other mind-body pain patterns, particularly when symptoms are influenced by stress, fear, emotional activation, or nervous system dysregulation. New, changing, or unexplained pain should still receive appropriate medical evaluation.

What does a session cost?

Somatic Attunement uses a tiered rate. Everyone receives the same care, you choose the amount that honestly reflects your circumstances, with no explanation required. Choosing a higher tier helps keep the lower tier available for someone else.

See current rates on our Pricing page →

If even the lowest tier isn’t accessible right now, additional assistance may be available.

How often do we meet?

There is no fixed schedule. You and Dr. Vincent will discern together how often meeting would be helpful. Some people come weekly for a season, others less frequently, and some return as needed. What matters is that the rhythm serves your nervous system, not the other way around.

What if this isn’t the right fit?

Sometimes it isn’t, and that’s simply useful information, not a failure on your part or ours. If Somatic Attunement doesn’t turn out to be the right match, Dr. Vincent will help point you toward what might serve you better, whether that’s a different offering here or something else entirely. No hard feelings, no pressure to make it work.

What happens after I share my story?

Dr. Vincent will review what you have shared to understand whether Somatic Attunement appears appropriate for your needs. When it seems like a suitable next step, you will receive a more detailed intake form and a private link to schedule a 60 minute session online or in person. If another form of care appears better suited, he will let you know.

How can I begin?

You may begin in either of two ways. Share your story if you prefer to explain what brings you here in writing, or schedule a free 20 minute consultation if you would rather begin with a conversation. You do not need to do both.
